Tour de France 2022 betting odds: Favorites
Tadej Pogacar -140 (implied probability 58.33 percent)
Pogacar enters the 2022 Tour de France as the overwhelming favorite with his implied probability sitting at 58.33 percent to win in the 176-man field. Pogacar is warranted as the odds-on favorite, as he’s likely to win a high number of stages, controlling the pace in the process.
Pogacar won by a wide margin in 2021, finishing five minutes and 20 seconds ahead of Jonas Vingegaard. There’s always risk with the Tour de France, as crashes are common and can wreak all sorts of havoc, but Pogacar is a deserved favorite. If you’re willing to bet the chalk and risk the relatively small return, Pogacar is the easy pick.
Primoz Roglic +400 (implied probability 20 percent)
Roglic’s projected to be one of Pogacar’s biggest threats to his three-peat chances. He enters the 2022 field with the second-lowest odds at +400. The 32-year-old Slovenian won gold in the 2020 Tokoyo Olympics’ time trials, but he abandoned last year’s Tour de France before Stage 9 due to a crash on Stage 3 that left him bruised and cut. Roglic knows he’s in for a big test racing against Pogacar, but he’s capable of taking him down and offers a nice return on even a relatively modest bet.
Tour de France 2022 betting odds: Sleepers
Geriant Thomas +1600 (implied probability 5.88 percent)
Thomas won the Tour back in 2018, and at +1600, he could surprise en route to his second title in four years. Thomas’ experience navigating through the 21-stage event gives him a fighting chance to upend Pogacar’s reign and reclaim a yellow jersey, but you don’t want to bet a lot on the 36-year-old Welshman.
Chris Froome +10000 (implied probability 0.99 percent)
Froome’s a Tour de France legend, as he’s the only rider outside of Lance Armstrong (titles later stripped) to win the Tour at least three times. At 37, Froome has his work cut out for him to win his fifth ever Tour title, but the +10000 odds make the Brit an intriguing sleeper and worth a small sprinkle.
