While the Chargers were expected to select an offensive tackle with the third overall pick, they instead chose Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa.
It’s unknown whether San Diego’s decision was influenced by a since-deleted video of Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil — widely considered the likely choice for San Diego at No. 3 — smoking from a bong.
Bosa might not be the best pure pass rusher or rush defender in the draft, but offers the best combination of each.
“Bosa is going to show up every week with an attitude, and I think that teams need that,” NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock said of Bosa.
